One of our tenets as a hospital is female empowerment. Hence all decisions of conception and/or contraception start and end with the woman involved. Through this, maternal health outcomes improve and ultimately maternal mortality reduces.
In 2013, Nigeria was responsible for about 14% of maternal mortality in the world, but consisted only about 2% of world population. It has been estimated that by meeting the identified unmet need for family planning, global maternal deaths would be reduced by almost a third.
At Limi hospital, access to various family planning methods is guaranteed, with informative counselling before and after contraception use.
Our variety of family planning methods include;
- Implants
- Combined oral contraceptives
- Progesterone-only oral contraceptives
- Injectables
- Intrauterine contraceptive devices
- Emergency contraceptives
- Sterilization, etc
We also offer counselling, pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis for patients at risk of exposure to sexually transmitted infections such as HIV.
Clearly, improving access to family planning will save more of our women’s lives!
